Born in Manhattan in 1966, he studied piano since he was 5 years old, at 9 he began studying saxophone. He obtained a Bachelor of Music (Applied Saxophone) at the Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester) in 1988. He obtained a Master of Music (Jazz and Commercial Music) from the Manhattan School of Music in 1991 with honors. In 1987 and 1988, he received the Honorable Mention Award from DownBeat magazine. Main professors: Ramon Ricker, Bob Mintzer, Bill Dobbins, Ray Wright, Al Regni and George Coleman. In 1992 he emigrated to Spain, where he currently resides.
Professional experience
He has participated in international tours with many groups, including: Lionel Hampton Big Band and The Glenn Miller Orchestra. He has performed with: Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D'Rivera, Gerry Mulligan, Mel Lewis, Garry Smullyan, Clark Terry, Mark Murphy, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ron McClure, George Mraz, Kurt Weiss and JJ Johnson, among many others. Since his move to Europe, he has played with Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, Pedro Iturralde, Albert Bover, Iñaki Salvador, Horacio Icasto, Javier Colina, Mario Rossy, Jorge Rossy, Bernardo Sasseti, Guillermo McGuill, Chris Kase, Mikel Andueza , Yayo Morales and the group Calle Caliente. In 1998, he released his first album as leader, for Fresh Sound Records, with the participation of Albert Bover, Carlos Barretto, Philipe Soiratt, Perico Sambeat and Kurt Weiss. He currently works as a band director, freelance musician and teacher in Madrid. Among his current projects are his quartet, with which he has just published his latest album "Out and About" with SteepleChase Records in October 2013, and Bob Sands Big Band, which he directs when his busy career in studies and concerts is It allows.
